Ashur throws a spear and kills Spartacus on the mountaintop, saving Crassus in this alternate reality. Crassus makes Ashur a patrician for his service. Wealth, nobility, and a home make him Dominus, the House of Ashur's master. Dominus awakens in this new reality, which he sees as his destiny.
Despite his wealth and title, the Roman nobility immediately despises Dominus. His slavery is well-known, and his status is bought. Dominus wants to win gladiator battles to gain respect for the House of Ashur.

Dominus tries to enter his gladiators into the Roman competitions, but the noble families refuse to let the House of Ashur compete. Cossutia, Gabinius' wife, lets him in, clearly intending to disappoint.
