By the end of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 episode 2, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson escape the borders of Camp Half-Blood after a direct confrontation with Tantalus. They broke the camp's law that no campers are allowed to leave the grounds without an approved quest.

The premiere ties this rule to the weakening of Thalia’s tree, Grover’s disappearance, Annabeth's secrets, and Percy’s urgent need to act.

After the Stymphalian birds attack Camp Half-Blood, Tantalus announces a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece. Clarisse La Rue is chosen to lead it. She selects Annabeth and considers choosing Percy, but Annabeth convinces her not to. Feeling betrayed, Percy decides to pursue a separate quest to save Grover, who is in danger according to their empathy link.

Noteworthy, Percy knows that the coordinates Tantalus said was wrong. That night, Percy leaves the Poseidon cabin and asks his father for a sign. Hermes appears instead, saying the quest is approved and offering assistance.

Despite Percy’s distrust, Hermes explains that the gods are divided and expresses hope that Luke can still be redeemed. Percy disagrees but accepts the supplies and boat Hermes provides.

Percy believes the Golden Fleece can heal Thalia’s tree and restore the camp’s weakening defenses. Grover’s situation adds urgency, and Clarisse’s selection deepens his sense of being shut out of a mission he believes he must join.

When Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson attempt to leave, Tantalus rejects the divine approval and declares them in violation of camp law. Tyson blocks his attack, and the trio escape on Hermes’ boat. Their departure becomes a key turning point in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2.

In the final moments, Annabeth acknowledges that they broke the rule and warns they may never be allowed to return. Percy accepts the consequences, marking an early divide between him and Camp Half-Blood’s leadership.

Where is Grover?

Grover’s disappearance is revealed early in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. After praying to Pan in the woods, he is confronted by a group linked to Luke’s rebellion. When he tries to escape, a large sea creature pulls him underwater. Later, through a shared empathy link, Grover tells Percy that he has been captured by Polyphemus. The cyclops has taken him to lure more satyrs by using the Golden Fleece, whose threads mimic the scent of Pan.

Percy confirms Grover’s location during a dream conversation, where Grover provides the same coordinates hinted at earlier by the Grey Sisters. Percy checks a map and realizes the numbers point directly to the Sea of Monsters. This establishes that Grover is imprisoned on Polyphemus’s island, deep within the dangerous waters that the demigods must enter to find both their friend and the Golden Fleece.

Is Tyson Percy's half-brother?

Tyson is confirmed to be Percy’s half-brother when the trio reaches Camp Half-Blood. After the Laestrygonian attack, Tyson follows Percy and Annabeth across the camp’s border. During their introduction to the new camp director, Tantalus, a trident symbol appears above Tyson’s head. This marks him as a son of Poseidon. Since Percy is also a son of Poseidon, the revelation establishes their direct sibling relationship.

The confirmation affects how the camp views Tyson. Before the trident appears, some campers treat him as only a monster due to his cyclops identity. Once his parentage is revealed, he gains the same divine status as other demigod children of the gods.

For Percy, the discovery reshapes their relationship. All the while he thought that Tyson was just some random kid his mom met doing charity. This changes the fact tha the is the only son of Poseidon.
