Jill Whelan joined Love Boat co-star Lauren Tewes and more on the regal Princess for the Princess Cruises' Love Boat Celebration at Sea. The cruise departed from Galveston on November 16 for a seven-night sailing. Whelan shared her fond memories of working in the show during the event.Talking about her special fatherly connection with MacLeod while working on the show, she told People, published on November 20:"I was very lucky that his own children were generous enough to share him with me. She recalled the time when they were both struggling with their weight and how they would sneak candy together or go on diets together. She said that they would "try to do things to lose weight together."Whelan also remembered MacLeod as someone with a beautiful sense of humor. And while they share a close bond, she said that the late actor was also respectful of her as a colleague. Jill Whelan said:"I never felt like a kid on his show. I felt like I was part of his family. And he was so incredible at being respectful of me as a colleague, even though I was a kid."Gavin MacLeod played the captain on board the Pacific Princess in Love Boat. Whelan said that she was able to eulogize him on behalf of the Love Boat cast when the actor passed away in 2021. Other cast members whom People previously confirmed to join the celebration include Fred Grandy, Ted Lange, and Bernie Kopell. Charo also joined the cast aboard the Regal Princess. She was one of the most frequent guest stars in the series.The themed cruise departed from Galveston, Texas, on the Regal Princess on November 16. It will be sailing until November 23. They will be making stops throughout Mexico, particularly at Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Roatan, as well as Honduras. The sail away party will include meet-and-greet opportunities with the stars, cast Q&As, and a symbolic renewal of vows ceremony, according to People.Lange, who played bartender Isaac Washington on Love Boat, will also host one of the activities during the sailaway. He will be hosting a cocktail demonstration for the guests. There will also reportedly be a Love Boat trivia aboard, among other activities.Princess Cruises first launched its Love Boat reunion cruise in 2022 and brought it back in 2024. In the previous year, Tewes wasn't able to join the cast. The 2025 reunion is also the first time Charo is joining the rest of the cast for the cast reunion.
