Global viewers finally got to witness what's next for Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri as The Witcher season 4 released on Netflix. Facing twists and turns that come their way, the three have to find their way back to each other in the latest season.

The fourth installment of the series, adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, addresses many questions from the previous season while shedding light on the protagonists' individual journeys. While it brings new developments to the story, a big change that the viewers witnessed this season was the replacement of Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth.

Cavill, who played the role of Geralt for the past three seasons, does not appear in the latest season. The team behind The Witcher season 4 delves into the casting of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt

Liam Hemsworth's entry as Geralt came as a surprise to many viewers of the series, raising curiosity about what new he would bring to the series. While Cavill set the bar high for the role, Hemsworth's addition promised striking developments to look forward to in the new season of the popular Netflix series.

In an interview with Netflix Tudum, Hemsworth spoke about his reaction to being offered the role, further showcasing his personal interest in Geralt as a character. He stated in the interview:

"Initially, I was pretty hesitant and unsure. It’s an odd thing to be asked to come in midway through a series like this and continue on as the lead character. But, as a fan of the video game, I felt like I could do something cool with it.”

Further expressing his interest in the character, he shared:

"I’m a bit of a secret gamer. I was such a big fan of this character, so it was a bit of those pinch-yourself moments of walking around in this costume that a few years ago I was playing a video game of.”

While Hemsworth's fondness for Geralt made him take the challenging role in season 4, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shared how he became the team's choice for Geralt in a conversation with Netflix Tudum. Hissrich stated:

"The very first time that I met with Liam Hemsworth, in my gut, I knew that he would make a perfect Geralt for us in Season 4, because he was able to be very honest with me about the things that really resonated with him in earlier seasons, and also some things he’d like to shift.”

While these comments show how Hemsworth became a part of The Witcher universe, viewers will get to see more of him in the upcoming season of the series, too.
