The episode was part of season 4’s three-episode premiere as the show’s final season got underway and episode 1 picked up after the kidnapping. However, while Aunt Viv didn’t show up to support the two boys, Lou was there and pleased his son wasn’t going to jail.However, the situation soon changed as Will was suffering from PTSD following the kidnapping and eventually Thanksgiving arrived, where Lou and the entire family gathered. However, the episode’s main focus, as the title indicates, is Thanksgiving and the dinner as well as a slight tiff between Uncle Phil and Lou. After the two boys made their appearance in court, Will invited Lou over for Thanksgiving and that kicked things off.Lou and Phil end up having a conversation as the former wanted to look after Will and use his rights as his father to do so, with Phil against that. He believed that up-rooting Will after a traumatic incident, and after he had just managed to settle down again, wasn’t right and was thus against the idea. That leads to the two having an argument when Lou tells Phil that he’s leaving after he got a job offer in Philly.The two then table the argument and go back inside the house to rejoin the festivities. Will and Lou eventually end up bonding and he even calls Lou ‘dad’ for the first time, while Lou attempts to work up the courage to tell his son that he's going to leave again. He doesn’t, but the news eventually gets out when Uncle Phil, accidentally, blurts it out during a fit of anger while having an argument with Lou during a game of trivia.An upset Will doesn’t take it well and storms out of the house, upset that his father hadn’t thought to share the news with him. He then spends the rest of the day on the porch, but Carlton turns up and their conversation convinces Will to talk to his father again. Thus, despite being invited in for Thanksgiving dinner, Geoffrey only brought a turkey to Phil’s house and then excused himself, saying he had some work. In reality, he went to a bar and reminisced about the old days with the family.It is then revealed that it was Geoffrey who helped Phil get a loan to start his business and that he also spoke to the judge and convinced him not to give Will and Carlton prison time. But despite that, his bond with the family now seemed all but broken. And yet, by the end of Bel-Air season 4 episode 3, Geoffrey was back in their good graces.His role in helping get Will back from the kidnappers, despite it being somewhat his fault, alongside their past history, helped Phil change his mind.
