A brief recap of 9-1-1 season 9 episode 4

Titled Reentry, 9-1-1 season 9 episode 4 finally sees Athena and Hen's safe return to Earth. However, their space odyssey isn't without its challenges, like Athena almost dying in space after getting herself untethered and damaging her oxygen regulator while fixing the robotic arm they need to launch the escape pod. The pod also has limited seating, with only four seats, but Kern is able to add a fifth one.

Still, with the five Inara 2 crew and Captain Stanton from the ISS, they are missing one seat. Moreover, someone needs to operate the robotic arm to launch the pod's descent to Earth, so Kern makes the difficult decision to stay despite the ISS being hit by debris at any time soon. That said, he survives the hit and is able to live his dream of being an astronaut.

Meanwhile, the pod successfully returns to Earth, and Tricia uses her 1% stake in the company to help oust Tripp Hauser. She also breaks up with him after what he did, launching them into a geo storm and leaving them for dead, and she starts dating Parker. Meanwhile, Harry reconciles with Athena and tells her mom that he is applying to become a firefighter.

Titled Dia de los Muertos, it's Halloween in the next episode, which is set to bring some fun and festivities to the picture, but also some horror.
With the town out and about for Halloween, 118 will also be laden with emergency calls about various jump scares and a certain Jack-o-lantern.
Following Harry's bombshell revelation in the previous episode, Athena's reaction and handling of the fact that her son is pursuing a dangerous profession could be a highlight in the next episode.
