Food Network star Guy Fieri has a long way to go in recovery after getting an emergency surgery for the injuries he sustained on set. The restaurateur and TV personality recently suffered a major freak accident while filming Flavor Town Food Fight. He slipped on the stairs and tore his quad muscle, and he had to be rushed to the hospital for surgery so his muscles won't atrophy.

In an interview with Fox News Digital on November 24, Fieri shared a health update:

"I'm on crutches and in a wheelchair. I mean, I have to stay off it and the whole thing. I can't walk on it for eight weeks."

He further said that he's looking at a long recovery, explaining that he can't put any weight on his legs. He will have to go into a cast and use crutches, and then go to rehab. The celebrity chef also said that he couldn't wait to finish rehab as soon as possible and "get back to being Guy."

Guy Fieri also said that his injury has been a "damper," but he's recuperating at the "beautiful" ranch, where it's all about hiking and the outdoors. His injury also doesn't come at the most inopportune time, with the coming holidays. But he has a couple who can take over from him for the holiday celebrations, his sons Hunter and Ryder, and his nephew Jules.

He reckons it's going to be "an adventure" cooking for about 40 people, with him "quarterbacking from the wheelchair" and telling the three boys what to do.

Chef and TV personality Guy Fieri recounted the accident he had on the set of Flavor Town Food Fight that landed him in the emergency room. He said that he missed a step on the stairs, which has limited his mobility during his recovery. He recalled the event, saying:

"[I] slipped down a set of stairs, and one foot went forward, and the other foot got caught on the threshold. So, you know, it extended me out. I looked like I was probably doing the splits."

He said that they were in the middle of filming when the accident happened, and there were around 125 people on set. Everybody was ready to go, but he was rushed to the hospital for surgery. The extent of his injury even stunned his doctor, who told him that he hadn't seen a tear in the biggest and thickest part of the quad in his 20 years of practice. Guy Fieri admitted that the injury "sucked."

The TV personality explained that, in most cases, a quad would tear from the tendon or the tendon would tear off the bone. But his case was rare, where the whole quad muscle tore in half and "exploded."

Guy Fieri recently starred in Happy Gilmore 2 as Maxi Starter, the host of the Maxi Golf Tournament.
