A disagreement broke out on social media on November 25, 2025, between commentator Brandon Tatum and activist Evan Kilgore over claims related to Candace Owens’ recent, unverified allegations of an assassination plot involving French President Emmanuel Macron.

The exchange began after Evan Kilgore posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Brandon Tatum had “seen the evidence” regarding the alleged threat against Owens, a claim Tatum immediately rejected.

In a sharp response on Nov. 26, 2025, Tatum wrote,

"Why are you lying?? You better delete this or edit this. I never said I saw evidence"

He made it clear that he had only said he was “convinced” Candace Owens wouldn’t lie to him.

Evan Kilgore later walked back his initial statement, but continued to argue that Tatum’s own comments suggested tacit endorsement of Owens’ claims. The disagreement unfolded as Owens’ allegations, which remain unverified, continued to generate intense online reaction.

Brandon Tatum rejects Evan Kilgore’s claim, saying he has not seen evidence from Candace Owens

Brandon Tatum’s November 25, 2025, post on X (formerly Twitter) pushed back on Evan Kilgore’s assertion that he had reviewed proof related to Candace Owens’ allegations. “I never said I saw evidence,” Tatum wrote, adding that he had explicitly stated he was not sure whether the information Owens shared with him was verified. According to his tweet, his position was based solely on personal trust.

Evan Kilgore’s original post earlier that day framed the situation differently, claiming Tatum “now says he has seen the evidence regarding the assassination threat on Candace Owens.” He described Tatum as “convinced” and suggested the situation required “serious consequences for the French government.”

Just a few hours later, Evan Kilgore issued a follow-up post clarifying that he had “spoken too soon.” He acknowledged Tatum had told him he had not seen proof and would not endorse allegations without evidence.

However, Evan Kilgore maintained that Tatum’s earlier comments, in which he expressed belief in Candace Owens’ sincerity, were also a form of endorsement. He added that the logic remained unclear to him, but emphasized that his posts were based on Brandon Tatum’s own statements.

Candace Owen made her yet unverified allegation via X (formerly Twitter) on November 23, 2025. In her post marked "Urgent", Owens claimed a “high-ranking employee of the French Government” informed her that President Emmanuel Macron and his wife had “executed upon and paid for” an operation to assassinate her.

Owens also alleged that the supposed plot involved France’s GIGN, which is an elite tactical unit, and “one Israeli” operative. Owens said the unnamed individual provided “concrete proof” of their position within the French government, though she did not release any documents or supporting material.

None of Candace Owens’ claims has been independently verified. According to reports by The Jerusalem Post on November 23, 2025, French, Israeli, and U.S. officials have not publicly commented on the allegations.

In a later post on November 24, 2024, Owens also claimed that the French President had moved large sums of money for her alleged assassination. Owens did not present any proof for this claim either, and the allegations remain unverified.

The report also noted that her statements echoed conspiracy narratives she has advanced in recent weeks, including claims connecting the French government to the September 2025 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Candace Owens reportedly claimed that Charlie Kirk’s killer had “trained with the French legion 13th brigade,” though investigators have not confirmed such connections.
