American political commentator and podcaster Candace Owens recently shared her views on the operation of the nonprofit organization Turning Point USA after its founder, Charlie Kirk, was killed in September.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the media personality made an appearance on Myron Gaines’ podcast and claimed that TPUSA wanted to portray Michael McCoy as "new" Charlie Kirk after the latter’s assassination.
Michael McCoy is the chief of staff at Turning Point USA. According to his LinkedIn profile, he started working at the conservative youth organization as an executive assistant in 2020 at age 18.

“What are your thoughts on how Erika Kirk has been dealing with this and some of the people that are close to him, his manager Mike and all them like do you think they're just playing a role?”
Sharing her thoughts, Candace replied:
“It is obvious to me that Mikey McCoy was the person that they wanted to launch as the new Charlie. That's very obvious. The way they brought his YouTube channel back with a speech from Mikey, and everyone was kind of trying to soft sell Mikey to us.”
Candace Owens appeared to call out Michael McCoy for his educational background and labelled his father as a “very dirty guy.”
“It just is very strange that they felt like they tried to manipulate us into accepting this. Almost like they had like Mikey's going to be this person, then we see Mikey, he's a hero and he just walks away, right, for somebody like that doesn't make any sense to me,” Candace further added.
Candace Owens shares her views on the people who might be “responsible” for Charlie Kirk’s death
During her appearance on Myron Gaines’ podcast, Candace Owens also revealed who she thinks is the “most responsible” for the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
When the host asked her:
“Who do you think, I know you said the people around them, but who do you think is the most responsible? Why would they want him gone?”
The media personality appeared to take aim at Turning Point USA, and said:
“I don't like the silence from Turning Point employees. I know for a fact one of them, I'm not going to name, has a text message from Charlie the day before he died saying, ‘They are going to kill me’… I do not like the way Turning Point is behaving.”
Notably, Candace also clarified that she has made it “clear and nobody is going to emotionally manipulate” her for attacking Turning Point. She also claimed that Charlie told her years ago that Turning Point was going to be the death of him.
“He knew he was going to die young and strangely knew that I was going to be the only person to defend him… We're here now and I'm going to defend him and I'm going to figure out what happened.”
For the uninitiated, Charlie Kirk lost his life after being fatally shot in the neck on September 10, 2025. He was killed while addressing an audience on the campus of Utah Valley University.
