Conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly shared the reason why she pulled her podcast from the Golden Globes' top 25 podcasts list. On December 8, the Golden Globes announced the six final nominees for its 2026 awards in the inaugural Best Podcast category. Here is the list of all nominees:
- Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard
- Call Her Daddy
- Good Hang with Amy Poehler
- Smartless
- The Mel Robbins Podcast
- Up First
In October this year, the Golden Globes announced the top 25 podcasts, from which the top six were selected. Many conservative podcasts were included in the top 25 list, including Megyn Kelly's show. After the final contenders were declared on Monday, Kelly revealed that she withdrew her candidature.
In the December 10 episode of her show, the former Fox News host was joined by author Andrew Klavan. In her discussion, Kelly stated when her podcast appeared on the Golden Globes' top podcasts list, she learned that she had to convince the Golden Globes' people to vote for her. Kelly cited this reason to pull out her name.
"So, like, you'd have to go out there and do a little dog and pony show like, 'Choose me, choose me. I want world peace and I look great in an evening gown' kind of thing. And of course, the whole thing was so bizarre because, number one, I had zero interest in their stupid awards," Megyn Kelly stated.
The political commentator further said that she built her career when Roger Ailes was leading Fox News. Kelly shared that during her time at the network, she was not even allowed to submit for any award, not even for a Pulitzer. She noted that Ailes "didn't believe in the system" and suspected that "it was run by leftists." Megyn Kelly said hence she never pushed her candidature for any award and she still does not wish to do so.
"So there was obviously zero chance I was going to be doing the dog and pony show or doing anything to get this Golden Globe. And instead, what we had our producers do was withdraw our name from consideration," Megyn Kelly added.
"Whole thing is rigged": Megyn Kelly blasts the Golden Globes for excluding Joe Rogan from the list
Megyn Kelly accused the awards of bias. She went on to question how Joe Rogan was not on the final list, given his ratings. Kelly pointed out that it was Rogan who popularized the podcast medium.
"By the way, Joe Rogan, who blows all of us out of the water when it comes to ratings, did not get the nomination. Like, it's ridiculous that you would do this award and include Mel Robbins... and not Joe Rogan, who is the undisputed king of this medium. In the first year you're offering the Golden Globe for it... The whole thing is rigged. It's not an honest system," she added.
Megyn Kelly remarked that Golden Globes winners were chosen not just for talent but for prostrating themselves in front of "Hollywood weirdos." Kelly said this helped explain the gap between what audiences genuinely enjoy and what the "left" promotes as "good and valid" media content.
Elsewhere in the episode, Megyn Kelly took a swipe at conservative Ben Shapiro for allegedly campaigning for the award.
The 83rd Golden Globes will take place on January 11 next year and the voting will be closed on January 3.
