The Christy alum recently sat for an interview with GQ, wherein she addressed the controversy around her American Eagle ad. Earlier in July, the denim label launched an ad campaign titled Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.The ad faced a huge backlash on the internet, with many accusing it of promoting eugenics. During the backlash, President Trump backed the actress and called the campaign the "'Hottest' ad out there" in his August 4 Truth Social post. In the interview, published on November 4, Sydney Sweeney was asked how she felt when the US President reacted to the ad. Responding to the host, the actress said:"It was surreal."Later in the interview, the host asked if she wanted to address the ad controversy. In her response, Sweeney said, "The ad spoke for itself." The host went on to ask if she specifically wanted to talk about the backlash associated with the alleged genetic discrimination in the ad."I think that when I have an issue that I wanna speak about, people will hear," Sweeney replied.British broadcaster Piers Morgan also reacted to the Euphoria alum's recent interview. On November 7, a user shared a clip of Sweeney's interview and alleged that the host was "trying to get Sydney Sweeney to apologize" for her ad.
