Candace Owens sparked a wave of online reactions after alleging that Alexis Wilkins, a singer and the girlfriend of FBI Director Kash Patel, issued a copyright claim against her channel. During a November 20 episode of her self-titled podcast, Owens said Wilkins had taken action after Owens used a clip of comedian Tim Dillon reacting to one of Wilkins’ songs.

“It wasn’t a strike. We got a—what do we got? I don’t want to mischaracterize it—a copyright claim for her sensational music, and so we might have to trim out that sensational song from the Tim Dillon clip that we showed of him listening to it,” Owens said in her video

Later that same day, X user Evan Kilgore posted a clip from Owens’ aforementioned video, with the caption:

“INSANE: Candace Owens just revealed that Kash Patel’s girlfriend hit her channel with a “copyright claim” for playing a segment of her song last week. Absolutely ridiculous.”

Netizens soon reacted to this post with a mix of humor, criticism, and disbelief. One user joked that the copyright claim at least confirmed that Wilkins and Patel were paying attention to Owens’ content.

“At least we know they’re watching,” the user wrote.

Some X users aimed their criticism directly at Alexis Wilkins, arguing that she was not a widely recognized singer and that the controversy itself, especially Owens discussing it on her platform, gave Wilkins unnecessary or free publicity.

The aforementioned instance wasn’t the first time Candace Owens brought up FBI Director Kash Patel on her podcast or social media and criticized the FBI director

According to a New York Times report published on October 28, 2025, Patel was described as “alarmed” after Joe Kent, head of the National Counterterrorism Center, reviewed internal FBI files to determine whether Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin in Charlie Kirk’s murder, had received assistance from “a foreign power or another entity.”

The report stated that Patel and several senior FBI officials believed Kent was “overstepping” and “potentially interfering” with the FBI’s own investigation.

The following day, on October 29, Owens openly expressed distrust toward Patel on social media. She accused him of reacting negatively to both Kent and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s involvement in the case, writing in one of her X posts:

“This article is literally about how Kash Patel is upset that Joe Kent and Tulsi Gabbard are trying to do their jobs and solve the Charlie Kirk murder case. It’s like Kash Patel wants to be the sole point person on this—why? I do not trust him at all.”

Owens brought up Patel again on her podcast during the October 30 episode while discussing the fact that she had not been invited to speak at Kirk’s memorial service, a decision she ultimately viewed in a positive light.

During that conversation, she criticized Patel for what she described as the FBI’s “official narrative,” adding that she would be deeply embarrassed if she were in his position.

Recently, Owens publicly called for Patel’s resignation after his girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, filed a $5 million lawsuit against commentator Elijah Schaffer.

Owens argued that Patel’s personal controversies, coupled with his ongoing public disputes, reflected poorly on the federal government. In an X post dated November 11, she wrote:

“Kash Patel has to step down. This is excruciatingly embarrassing. He’s a teenager in love representing the Federal government.”

So far, neither Kash Patel himself nor his reps have addressed any comments made by Candace Owens.

Meanwhile, Candace Owens is busy with her Candace podcast.
