Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, while speaking at a Turning Point USA event. He was shot in his neck and died soon after. A man named Tyler Robinson was arrested after his parents turned him in for allegedly taking the shot.

Meanwhile, there have been numerous conspiracy theories regarding Kirk's death. Conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson has now shared his thoughts on it. He said that it is the FBI's job to find the details, but added that they cannot be trusted. He posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, December 10, and said:

"The other day, I had like a 3-hour conversation with Theo Von, and it was not about Charlie Kirk or anything related to it, but that topic came up. And I said, in effect, you know, I don't trust the FBI. Um, and that gave some people the impression that I was, you know, accusing them of being involved in Charlie's assassination."

"And, of course, I wasn't, and I certainly didn't mean to. But it gives me the chance now to say what I think, which is that we should not necessarily trust the FBI. And by the way, why would we? It's not an attack on, you know, the political leadership of it," he added.

He referenced the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, and said that some FBI members were allegedly part of that setup. He added:

"Why would I [trust FBI], if there's one lesson of the last election, the 2024 election, is that a lot of our biggest systems, our biggest institutions, have wrought in them, and that needs to be reformed."

Tucker Carlson accused the FBI of "manufacturing crimes, setting people up, and distorting justice". He added that no one is under "some moral obligation to believe everything the government" says.

Tucker Carlson appeared in an episode of Theo Von's podcast, published on December 9. They conversed on numerous topics, including Charlie Kirk's death and the conspiracy theories that have come out since then. Carlson also spoke about his distrust of the FBI, especially Director Kash Patel. He said:

“I just don’t have a ton of confidence in the FBI or the men who run it. And I’m not saying that out of ignorance at all.”

Kash Patel had written a post on X soon after Charlie Kirk's assassination that the shooter had been arrested. However, he had to take it down as it was false information. Referencing that, Carlson added:

“This dumb Twitter [X] s**t. Leaders of the FBI on Twitter, like what?”

In his video on X on Wednesday, Carlson also named Dan Bongino, the Deputy Director of the FBI. He claimed that while he "likes" Bongino, it doesn't mean he has to trust the entire organization as well.
