Piers Morgan sharply criticized Meghan Markle after a Harper’s Bazaar interview revealed an introduction he described as excessively formal and unnecessary. For context, a Meghan Markle interview, published on November 20, 2025, featured a notable moment in which the journalist shared a behind-the-scenes detail about how the Duchess of Sussex was presented upon arrival.

The journalist wrote:

“We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house.”

Piers Morgan reacted strongly to this description during the November 28 episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, framing the incident as evidence of what he viewed as self-importance.

He implied that the formality of the introduction showcased what he considered Meghan’s exaggerated sense of status.

“Of all the revelations I’ve seen about Meghan Markle recently, the one from the Harper’s Bazaar interview where she does this sort of weirdly stark cover…I mean, there’s that moment alone, right, the utter delusion of this person,” he said.

In response to Morgan’s criticism, Katie Nicholl, a royal family commentator on Morgan’s panel, said:

“Yeah, it’s a very grand and frankly unnecessary introduction.”

Nicholl expanded on her criticism by contrasting Meghan’s use of her title with Prince Harry’s historically relaxed approach. She explained that Harry often preferred to be addressed casually, typically asking people to just call him “Harry.” By comparison, Nicholl suggested that Meghan “capitalizes on the title” whenever she can.

During the aforementioned episode, Piers Morgan used Meghan Markle’s remarks in her Harper’s Bazaar interview as the basis for renewed criticism of the Duchess of Sussex.

In her interview, Markle stated that she valued the “community of work and the connection” it brought her, and said that “a lot of it” was in her “DNA.” Morgan argued that these comments contradicted her actions since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.

He began by highlighting what he saw as a fundamental inconsistency. He explained that Meghan’s description of valuing work and community clashed sharply with her departure from the responsibilities that came with her royal role.

“This is the same Duchess of Sussex who fled actually work with the British community for which she gets her title of Duchess of Sussex, doesn’t do any official royal duties at all, but resides in California, where she was from, and makes literally hundreds of millions of dollars trading off her royal status without doing anything for it,” he said.

Piers Morgan also elaborated on why this perceived disconnect had shaped his long-running criticism of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

He explained that his issue was not with their decision to leave the royal family, but rather with what he described as their contradictory behavior afterward.

“I mean, that to me is just blatant hypocrisy again, and has been the cornerstone of my criticism of the pair of them since they left, which is, it’s fine. If you want to leave, fine. Leave the royal family. It’s no problem. You don't have to be (there). We don't hold a gun to your head," Piers Morgan said.

He explained that in his view, both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had consistently “trashed the royal family” and “trashed the monarchy” across various media platforms while continuing to trade on the titles they retained.

“But what you can’t do is trash the royal family, trash the monarchy on every platform you can get your hands on, and trade at the same time off your royal status and titles, including being introduced as you walk into a private home as Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. It’s all baloney,” he added.
