A new update related to Wendy Williams' health surfaced on Tuesday. In its exclusive, TMZ reported that the TV host did not have frontotemporal dementia. The outlet noted that the condition was used to justify the continuation of her guardianship.

The news outlet stated that a source told them that Wendy Williams had completed multiple tests in NYC, and the doctor concluded that the TV host did not have frontotemporal dementia. The test results were handed over to Williams' legal team last month.

Pop culture podcaster Perez Hilton reported on the development in his November 11 blog. He noted that Wendy Williams' team reportedly plans to file to terminate the media personality's guardianship. Commenting on it, Hilton wrote,

The blogger noted that the broadcaster's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, is also preparing for a jury trial in case the judge dismisses the petition to terminate Williams' guardianship.

As per Business Insider, in 2022, Wells Fargo froze Williams' accounts, claiming that she was an "incapacitated person." The company also filed a petition in court to keep the TV host under financial guardianship. In February 2024, Williams’ care team issued a statement announcing that the TV host had been diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023.

A year later, Wendy Williams gave an interview to The Breakfast Club over a phone call. In the conversation, she said:

"I don't have frontal temporal dementia, you know what I'm saying? It's disgusting; that is a very rare thing for anybody to have, you understand?"

Perez Hilton noted that the newly reported findings "contradict" the original medical findings, as frontotemporal dementia seemingly has no cure and only worsens with time.

"As we’ve reported, frontotemporal dementia is known to be progressive and irreversible and is a condition that typically worsens with time. But Wendy’s story has not followed that pattern. In fact, insiders claimed to the outlet that she has shown neurological resilience, particularly since becoming sober a few years back," Hilton wrote.

More on Wendy Williams' guardianship and prefrontal dementia diagnosis

The TV host revealed in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with Graves' disease. Afterward, she occasionally missed a few of her show tapings. In 2021, Williams tested COVID positive and she took a break from The Wendy Williams Show. The show was eventually cancelled in June next year.

In February 2022, Wells Fargo filed a petition to place Williams under financial guardianship. The court eventually placed her under the guardianship of Sabrina Morrissey, a guardianship attorney. Wendy Williams and her family had publicly expressed their apprehensions about Morrissey's guardianship.

Later in 2024, Williams' care team shared in a press release that the TV star was diagnosed with prefrontal dementia.

"In 2023, after undergoing a battery of medical tests, Wendy was officially diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Aphasia, a condition affecting language and communication abilities, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy's life," the press release read.

As mentioned above, Williams denied having frontotemporal dementia in her interview on The Breakfast Club. Hours after that interview, Morrissey reportedly filed a petition for a new medical evaluation.

Now, TMZ has reported the TV host's legal team is poised to challenge the guardianship, with the latest finding reportedly suggesting that she did not have dementia.
