"So scary!!": Perez Hilton reacts after HyunA collapses on stage after reported 22 lb weight loss

Celebrity commentator Perez Hilton reacted to Korean singer HyunA’s sudden collapse during her concert on Sunday. The K-pop singer fainted midway through her Waterbomb Music Festival set in Macau on November 9. The video of her collapsing on stage was widely circulated on the internet, causing concern among her fans. Perez Hilton blogged about the incident in his November 10 blog.

The podcaster noted that the former 4Minute member fell to the floor while she was dancing to her song Bubble Pop. Videos shared on social media showed the singer losing consciousness mid-performance. Her backup dancers rushed to her aid before security helped her offstage. Reacting to it, Perez Hilton commented:

"So scary!!

Perez Hilton noted that the singer fainted just days after posting on Instagram about her weight loss. In the post, HyunA shared a picture of a weighing scale showing her weight of 49.8 kilos. In the post's caption, the soloist spoke about the challenge of bringing down the first number.

"So she was working hard to lose some weight. Seemingly a lot of weight. It’s being reported that she did change that first number, from a 5 to a 4. In other words, she dropped 10 kilos — that’s over 22 lbs!" Hilton wrote.

Citing a report from the Korea Times, the blogger mentioned that HyunA reportedly decided to lose weight after "recent speculation of a pregnancy." Commenting on the rumors, Hilton said:

"It seems like she was trying to combat some of the negative comments on her body. So sad…"

HyunA shared her health update following the incident in an Instagram post

After her sudden collapse on stage, HyunA shared a health update in an Instagram post. The K-pop singer posted a black picture and wrote a long caption in Korean. The translation of the caption read:

“I am really really sorry.. It was a short while since the previous show though I wanted to show a good look I don’t think I’ve been able to be a pro Actually I don’t remember anything either. From now on, I’ll try to develop more stamina and work hard consistently. It would be great if everything goes according to my wish, but I’ll try..!! … Don’t worry about me ! Hope everyone has a good night..”

As reported by Star News, the K-pop idol had a history of vasovagal syncope, a condition in which a person's heart rate and blood pressure drop suddenly. HyunA had previously talked about her medical condition in the past.

The outlet reported that earlier in 2019, she opened up about her health condition in a social media post. HyunA reportedly revealed that she had been diagnosed with depression and panic disorder. In the post, she also discussed her vasovagal syncope.

"My vision suddenly went blurry, and then I just collapsed. After tests, I was told it was vasovagal syncope," the soloist wrote.

Perez Hilton, in his blog, mentioned that HyunA's drastic weight loss was not rare among K-pop idols. He highlighted that many South Korean artists "have had issues" with their weight, as they reportedly "have to adhere to very strict standards" of their agencies.
