Earlier this June, during the G7 summit, the President of the European Council, António Costa, gifted a CR7 T-shirt to the US President. The shirt bore a message from the soccer star that read:

"To President Donald J. Trump, playing for peace."

In the recent interview, Piers Morgan asked the Portuguese player what he meant by the message.

"If the world is in peace, it's our goal. He's [Trump] one of the guys that can change or help to change the world. And it's my main goal. He's one of the most important guys, of course; he's the US President. If we can help each other to make this happen, because, I swear this, I can't watch TV. Sometimes I start to see the news to be I can't," the Al-Nassr striker said.

The soccer athlete added that he wished to sit with the US President and have a conversation with him. Lauding Donald Trump, Ronaldo said:

"I wish one day to meet him, to sit with him because he's really got, he's one of the person that, I really like him because I think he can make things happen, and I like people like that."

Morgan also chimed in and heaped his praise on the POTUS, saying, "He really wants peace." Later in the conversation, Ronaldo said that he planned to tell Donald Trump that the two of them share something in common. However, despite Morgan’s persistence, the Portuguese player declined to reveal the secret during the interview.

Before concluding the episode, the soccer athlete stirred a debate by comparing his fame with that of the US President. He asked Piers Morgan:

"We will do a debate for the world. Who is the most famous? Me or President Donald Trump, in the world?

Morgan, in turn, asked for the soccer star's opinion on that. Responding to the host's request, the Portuguese athlete said:

"Me. I think worldwide. Even in that small Iceland, they know me more than him... I think in the world nobody's more famous than me."

However, the highly acclaimed soccer player called it "boring" to be recognized in every corner of the world.
