Pop culture commentator Perez Hilton reacted to an update concerning food influencer Michael Duarte's death. Perez Hilton covered the development in his November 12 blog. He shared that a GoFundMe page, set up by Duarte's family, mentioned that he had died in a "horrible accident," without details. However, he later added that the Medina County Sheriff’s Office shared the details about the chef's death with TMZ. Hilton wrote that it was not an "accident" but rather a standoff with the police.

As per the media outlet, cops received a 911 call about a "male subject with a knife acting erratically" in the Castroville area. When cops reached there alongside paramedics, Michael Duarte allegedly "threatened" a deputy. The food influencer ignored multiple warnings by the officials and reportedly charged toward the deputy. Duarte was allegedly yelling, "I’m going to kill you."

"JFC. What happened? How did he end up attacking cops with a knife?!" Perez Hilton wrote.

Michael Duarte's death news was announced by his agency, Alooma Media Group, via an Instagram post on November 9. The talent agency wrote that the social media influencer was "much more than a client" to them.

"Michael was a devoted husband to his wife Jessica, a loving father to his daughter, brother and a loyal friend to so many around the world. His warmth, kindness, and generosity were felt in every interaction, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel valued and inspired," the post read.

As per the GoFundMe page, Duarte's death occurred just three days after he celebrated his ninth wedding anniversary with his wife, Jessica Duarte. The food influencer shared a 6-year-old daughter, Oakley, with his wife. The page urged people to pray for Michael Duarte's family in their "extremely difficult time" and asked for financial assistance.

"This heartbreak came without warning, leaving Jessica to incur the expense of bringing him back home to California and covering funeral expenses. During this time, and in the months/years ahead, we want to make sure that Jessica and Oakley are taken care of as Michael would have wanted them to be. Your support would bring comfort, stability, and a reminder that they are not carrying this weight alone," the campaign page read.
