Telegram founder Pavel Durov has said that he finds Candace Owens' claims about Charlie Kirk's death and the "French legion" plausible. He said that after what Kirk said about the USA's tariffs on France, Owens' allegations could make sense.

Candace Owens has made multiple claims in recent posts and videos that the "French legion" was allegedly behind Charlie Kirk's murder. The right-wing activist was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10 this year.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on November 22, Owens even claimed that "the Macrons have executed upon and paid for her assassination." She alleged that her source told her that, "Charlie Kirk’s assassin trained with the French legion 13th brigade with multi-state involvement."

Pavel Durov reacted to this post by Owens on X on November 23 and wrote:

"After reviewing everything Charlie Kirk has ever said about Macron’s France, I find Candace’s info about French involvement in his death entirely plausible. Charlie even called for 300% tariffs on France until the charges against me were dropped."

Durov also added an X post made by Charlie Kirk on August 25, 2024, when he supported the Telegram founder amidst his controversy with France. The late activist and author wrote:

"President Trump should announce plans for a 300% tariff on French wine unless ALL charges are dropped on Pavel Durov immediately. If Europe is going to imprison CEO’s of platforms where free speech thrives, there should be stiff and painful consequences."

Following Charlie Kirk's death, a man named Tyler Robinson was arrested on the charge of taking the shot. Candace Owens, however, has spoken about multiple theories relating the French government to the activist's death.

Owens ran a series on her YouTube channel titled Becoming Brigitte. In it, she claimed that France's first lady, Brigitte Macron, was allegedly born as a man. This led to Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron filing a lawsuit against her in July this year.

Candace Owens claimed that her allegations were based on a book by a French journalist, Xavier Poussard. Now, in her X post on November 22, she wrote:

"Two days ago I was contracted by a high ranking employee of the French Government. After determining this person’s position and proximity to the French couple, I have deemed the information they gave me to be credible enough to share publicly in the event that something happens. In short, this person claims that the Macrons have executed upon and paid for my assassination."

In a video posted on her channel on November 21, she linked her claims about Brigitte Macron to Charlie Kirk's death, saying:

"I know that many of you guys were wondering whether or not Charlie's assassination was meant to distract us from the Brigitte Macron investigation and rightfully so. That is a fair question because, as you guys know, it was Charlie Kirk that called me and told me that they wanted me to stop speaking about Brigitte."

Owens also claimed that even "Xavier Poussard’s life is also at risk", claiming that the Macrons "want them both dead".
