Does Laura Loomer work at the Pentagon now? Podcaster's new gig explored as her photo of her first day in office goes viral

A recent photo of Laura Loomer, taken at the Pentagon, has been going viral on X, resulting in many wondering what the political activist and podcaster was doing at the Department of Defense headquarters. On December 1, 2025, Laura Loomer took to her X account to post the picture, which has since received 375K views.

The post had quoted-tweeted one of her earlier tweets that reported on an alleged coup to remove the current Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, and replace him with Dan Driscoll, the current Secretary of the Army. For those uninformed, Loomer, a close Trump ally, was added to the Pentagon’s press corps in November 2025, when she was credentialed to cover the Defense Department.

"Not bad for my first day on the job," Loomer captioned her post.

Laura Loomer's addition to the Pentagon's press corps came after several legacy media journalists surrendered their badges and walked out of the Pentagon in October 2025 due to policy changes.

According to The Independent, media companies such as The Washington Post, Fox News, The New York Times, CNN, and The Associated Press refused to sign a new policy that prevented them from reporting any information that was not pre-approved by Pete Hegseth.

On November 3, 2025, Laura Loomer took to her X account to share the news of receiving her press credentials to cover the Pentagon, adding that her media outlet, titled Loomered, was now a "credentialed outlet at the Pentagon." She also continued that she was looking forward to "covering the Pentagon and breaking more stories that impact our country and our national security," writing:

"I’m excited to announce that after a year of breaking the most impactful stories that pertain to our nation’s national security and rooting out deceptive and disloyal bad actors from the Department of War, I have joined the Pentagon Press Corps!"

She continued:

"LOOMERED is now a credentialed outlet at the Pentagon. There is no denying that my investigative reporting has had a massive impact on the landscape of personnel decisions within the Executive Branch, our intelligence agencies and the Pentagon. I look forward to covering the Pentagon and breaking more stories that impact our country and our national security."

Laura Loomer claimed she had taken over Dan Lamothe's desk at the Pentagon

On December 1, 2025, which seemed to be Laura Loomer's first day at the Pentagon, the journalist took to her X account to post a picture of herself at her new desk while holding up her press badge. Loomer claimed that the desk had previously belonged to Dan Lamothe, who is a staff writer at The Washington Post.

“The Washington Post @washingtonpost and Dan Lamothe @DanLamothe used to occupy this desk inside the Pentagon Press room. Now it's mine!” Loomer wrote.

According to the Independent, other media outlets, including RedState and Fearless Media, also made the same claim, posting pictures with other desks from the Pentagon press office. This resulted in The Washington Post journalist commenting on the situation on social media, jokingly adding that the new reporters were "going to have to work this one out for yourselves."

In another post, Lamothe quipped that he "at least two or three desks left at the Pentagon" due to the recent posts. Additionally, Lamothe quote-tweeted Laura Loomer's post about his desk and commented:

"May it treat you well on your occasional trips to Washington, Laura. I assume it'll sit empty much of the time, as it has for weeks now."

In other news, Laura Loomer recently teased a possible move to Georgia amid the feud between President Donald Trump and Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. On November 14, 2025, Loomer posted a screenshot of Trump's Truth Social post withdrawing his endorsement of Greene, asking her X followers, "Should I move to Georgia?"
