In the website article linked to this post, Hilton explained that McEntire appeared on the Today Show on Monday, December 1, to promote Season 2 of her sitcom Happy’s Place, in which she stars alongside her real-life fiancé, actor Rex Linn.

During the interview segment, Savannah Guthrie mistakenly referred to Linn as McEntire’s husband. Hilton emphasized how the actress “caught the flub” and interrupted “Guthrie live on air”, and said:

“Now, wait a minute. Before everybody has a conniption fit at home, we’re just engaged.”

Perez Hilton noted that Guthrie apologized immediately, and McEntire laughed it off, joking that comments like that could have her family asking why they weren’t informed.

Hilton also wrote that when cameras cut to Linn, who was present in the studio, he initially looked “confused” before giving a warm grin to his “wife-to-be.”

The podcaster also added that Reba McEntire went on to talk about how working with Linn on set was a “blast,” praising his dedication to rehearsal and how he kept her prepared for tape days.

“He is a workaholic, and he loves to rehearse. Me, not so much on the rehearsal part, so he really makes sure that I know my lines, that I’m ready to go when we have a tape day. We have a blast. We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and then go home together,” Hilton added, citing what McEntire had said.

Hilton described the entire exchange as “cute,” reflecting how wholesome and lighthearted the moment felt despite the on-air slip. He further detailed that the pair had been “engaged since last Christmas Eve,” but they waited to announce the news “because the LA fires erupted soon after.”

In a newly published interview with USA TODAY on November 1, 2025, country icon Reba McEntire opened up about her real-life romance with actor Rex Linn, a relationship that had blossomed far beyond their on-screen dynamic in NBC’s comedy Happy’s Place.

While their characters, tavern co-owner Bobbie and cook Emmett, remained a “prospective couple” in Season 2, McEntire and Linn had long since taken that step in reality and were now happily engaged.

McEntire proudly wore a rose-gold ring surrounded by black diamonds, a design Linn had personally chosen before proposing on Christmas Eve 2024. She said the ring still dazzled her every day, laughing about how she never cleaned it.

“It sparkles all the time, and it doesn’t matter that I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned it,” Reba McEntire told USA TODAY.

She also described how being with Linn had brought a youthful joy back into her life, sharing that their relationship made her feel lighthearted and energized, almost as if she had rewound the clock emotionally.

“I’m having a blast. I feel like a teenager again… It’s just a wonderful time,” Reba McEntire added.

Reflecting on this stage of her life, McEntire said it felt especially meaningful. After five decades in the spotlight and turning 70, she noted she had never been happier, calling this chapter a gift.

“I’m 70 years old, 50 years in the business, and I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life. God saved the best for last,” Reba McEntire said.

McEntire and Linn shared a long history. They first met as friendly co-stars in the 1991 TV film The Gambler Returns, but it wasn’t until 30 years later, when McEntire appeared on Young Sheldon, where Linn played Principal Petersen, that their reconnection turned into romance.

A reunion dinner sealed their bond, and according to McEntire, they had “been joined at the hip ever since.”

The couple also spoke about their daily routine and how intertwined their personal and professional lives had become.

McEntire explained that they commuted together from their Los Angeles home and rehearsed scenes for Happy’s Place late into the night. She called them “great rehearsal partners,” noting how they often fell asleep and woke up with their scripts still in hand.

On Happy’s Place, Bobbie and Emmett weren’t originally written as romantic leads.

But McEntire said audiences quickly began rooting for their relationship, wanting to see “real life” reflected on screen. She hinted that while their real-world love story was far ahead of the show’s timeline, viewers could still expect “heated moments”, playful teasing, and a developing romance.

Happy’s Place, Season 2, starring Reba McEntire, premiered on NBC on November 7, 2025. It is available to stream the following day on Peacock, with new episodes airing every Friday.
