World Wrestling Championships 2025 Day 4: Kyle Snyder bags USA's third gold, Real Woods takes bronze as men's freestyle finish runner-up

Day four of the World Wrestling Championships 2025 saw several US athletes in action, including Real Woods, Kyle Snyder, Helen Maroulis, and Kylie Welker, among others.

Woods and Snyder competed in the medal rounds of the 65 kg and 97 kg categories. Meanwhile, Audrey Jimenez, Helen Maroulis, Macey Kilty, and Kylie Welker made their tournament debuts in women’s freestyle in the 50 kg, 57 kg, 65 kg, and 76 kg categories.

Snyder won Team USA’s third title at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships, claiming his fourth World title in the 97 kg category. He defeated Amir Ali Azarpira 4-2 in a rematch of their 2024 Olympic bronze-medal match, which Azarpira had won 4-1. Snyder secured his spot in the final with a decisive 9-1 victory over Arash Yoshida in the semifinals, after defeating Zbigniew Baranowski 5-0 in the quarterfinals. In men’s freestyle team rankings, the United States finished second behind Iran with 134 points.

Real Woods also secured a bronze medal in his Senior World Championships debut, defeating Peiman Biabani in the 65 kg category. Rohman Mousa Amouzadkhalili, who defeated Woods in the round of 16, reached the finals and pulled Woods into repechage. Woods advanced to the bronze-medal match with wins over Sujeet and Ikromzhon Khadzhimurodov.

In women’s freestyle, Jimenez was eliminated in the Round of 16 of the 50 kg after a 6-3 loss to Emanuela Liuzzi. Notably, Helen Maroulis advanced to the finals in the 57 kg division with a win over Olga Khoroshavtseva, advancing to the World Championship finals for the sixth time. Macey Kilty and Kylie Welker were both pulled into the repechage and will wrestle for bronze in the 65kg and 76 kg categories.
