Alpine skier and former Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin recently shared her thoughts on the Copper Mountain Giant Slalom. The American skier finished in the 14th position at the event.
Despite not performing up to expectations, Shiffrin is far from disappointed. In an interview with the Vail Daily magazine, the 30-year-old alpine skier expressed her joy in competing at home.
Mikaela Shiffrin described her overall experience at the Copper Mountain event as she remarked,
“My home is like 30 minutes away from here, which is amazing. I think the best thing is making it to the finish of this GS at this time of the year. I would rank that above everything else.”
The alpine skier further added,
“I’m really quite excited with where my general level of GS is. It’s been pretty fast every training day.”
Previously, Mikaela Shiffrin talked about second World Cup victory of the season. In a post-match interview, the alpine skier mentioned,
"I’m really excited to go to Copper. Finally, I stay in my own bed for the first time in the season. I had to push so hard, but it was really nice with the sun on the second run from last year. I remember it was really dark, so this was a really nice surprise, and it was in really great condition. I don't know, it felt totally different from the first; it was like handleable. It was good."
Mikaela Shiffrin aims to make it count at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to be held in February next year.

Mikaela Shiffrin previously reflected on being able to compete at the Winter Olympics. The 30-year-old alpine skier mentioned during a conversation with the Olympics website [Olympics.com],
"So I love it, and even if I don't race it at the Olympics, it's not out of the cards for me as a whole. Maybe it's just one of those things that the timing doesn't line up. One thing about the Games that I'm always really aware of, and especially this year, because we have an incredible (U.S.) team of athletes, multiple medal contenders. I don't want to be taking a spot that I don't earn and deserve to be there. So I'm fully OK letting go of that -- when the time comes -- if that is how it rolls."
Mikaela Shiffrin has won a total of three Olympic medals at the Winter Olympics. The alpine skier aims to make a strong comeback next year after having missed out on the Olympic glory at the 2022 Beijing edition.
