With 30 wins, the Huskers extended their unbeaten season record to three (earlier in 1994 and 2000). They also won the first round of the NCAA tournament against Long Island University on December 5, 2025. In the second round, they continued their dominance with a 3-0 victory against Kansas State. However, in a post-match press conference, Murray reflected on the second-round faceoff, stating that the wildcats executed a strong attacking performance.

She also expressed her gratefulness for reaching the top 16. Murray also expressed her caution, believing that although they have been unbeaten, the opponent teams would work on ways to break their streak. She stated that as they advance in the next rounds, they will face tough competitors, so the program needs to stay humble, as they are not peerless.

"We really need to take in the moments and appreciate that we're able to be here," Murray said. "Not every team is able to play in the Sweet 16, and just being grateful that we're here and learning from that because teams again, like I said earlier, teams are going to find ways to score. They're going to have to figure out different ways. So us just adjusting to that and just being grateful for where we are and I think we can just take away that teams we're not invincible, like teams are going to put their best fight up against us and as they should and they deserve our best effort too."
