Nebraska Volleyball's Andi Jackson recently reflected on the team's growth throughout her time on the team. The Huskers have extended their record of being unbeaten throughout a regular season for the third time after 1994 and 2000.
As they entered the first round of the NCAA tournament, they also defeated the Long Island University team with a sweep of 25-11, 25-15, 25-17. The Huskers earned a lead over LIU in kills with 47-24, 10-2 in blocks, 5-1 in aces, and 39-25 in digs. As the team advanced to the next round, the program's senior, Andi Jackson, reflected on her journey of four years.
When asked if she has observed any shift in confidence of the team during her tenure, Jackson stated that she hasn't seen any change. She also expressed her gratitude on behalf of the team for having a chance to compete in the tournament. The middle blocker added that the team isn't taking the opportunity for granted and anticipated a change in the level of confidence.
"I would say the confidence level is the same since my time at Nebraska," Jackson said. "We really just try to be where our feet are. Especially this year, we've talked about it a lot, and yesterday we really hit on it. Like after practice, we really wanted to just be mindful of where we are and not take anything for granted. But I think that's been pretty consistent while I've been here because we don't want to take for granted the fact that we're in the tournament."
"There's a lot of people who are at home watching right now. So, making it to the tournament and being in this position, it's a really, really cool feat. So, I would say the confidence level is the same, but I think moving forward, we might see things change."
Jackson recorded 10 kills and five blocks during the faceoff against LIU.
Nebraska Volleyball's Andi Jackson opens up about the training environment in the Huskers program
Nebraska Volleyball's Andi Jackson recently spoke about the team's environment while praising coach Dani Busboom Kelly. In an interview with Hail Varsity, Jackson highlighted that since Busboom Kelly has played for the Nebraska Volleyball team, she understands the team.
"Dani is awesome, and she's in on our jokes," Jackson said. "She's been so fun to have. She's just a girl, you know what I mean? Like, it's just so fun to talk to her because she just gets it. Like she's played here before. She knows what it takes, and I respect her so much for who she is, everything that she does."
"I would just say the environment is so fulfilling when you leave for that reason because Danny knows obviously there's a fine line between being and having fun. But I think every practice like we do a really good job of like being on that fine line of having a lot of fun but still getting better." (:30 onwards)
Busboom Kelly played for the Nebraska Volleyball team from 2003 to 2006.
