The island country was left in chaos after the hurricane, which made landfall at New Hope on October 28, 2025. The devastating natural calamity recorded the highest wind speed of 300kmph. It left the country to head to Cuba only after causing destruction, including disturbed communication networks and power outages. As the hurricane entered the country, it doubled its speed in just one day to enter into "extreme rapid intensification" mode and shifted from category 4 to 5.

The former sprinter shared a few glimpses where he was seen donating necessary items to his fellow countrymen. As the island nation started to rebuild itself, Bolt praised the efforts with one word, writing:

"I wake up just in time to see the kids off to school, and then it depends on what I have to do. If I have nothing to do, I just chill out. I might work out sometimes if I'm in a good mood."

He added:

"I mostly do gym workouts. I'm not a fan, but I think now that I’ve been out for a while, I have to actually start running. Because when I walk up the stairs I get out of breath. I think when I start working on it fully again, I will probably have to do some laps just to get my breathing right." (via hindustantimes.com)

Usain Bolt was also present at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, where his countrymen Oblique Seville and Kishane Thompson secured first two places in the men's 100m race.
