Mikaela Shiffrin's mother Eileen recently reacted to the skier's thrilling 102nd World Cup win. The skier won the opening slalom race of the 2025-26 season at the Ounaskievari Reindeer Farm in Levi in Finland, on Saturday, November 15. Shiffrin completed the first run in 56.08 seconds, earning a 1.66-second lead in the final run. The American skier clocked a combined time of 1:48.92. To achieve the feat, Shiffrin defeated Lara Colturi and Emma Aicher. As she dominated the race, Shiffrin received a reindeer along with the cash prize, a tradition followed at Levi. Her latest win in Levi marked Shiffrin's third consecutive win at what is considered the most technically demanding courses. It also marked her fifth consecutive victory in the last six years at the venue. Following her success, Shiffrin's mother shared a video of her daughter's impressive performance that left her stunned, and wrote:"This one, takes my breath away." Shiffrin added that the US team at the moment looks strong, and she doesn't want to take an Olympic spot unless she deserves it. "So I love it, and even if I don't race it at the Olympics, it's not out of the cards for me as a whole. Maybe it's just one of those things that the timing doesn't line up. One thing about the Games that I'm always really aware of, and especially this year, because we have an incredible (U.S.) team of athletes, multiple medal contenders. I don't want to be taking a spot that I don't earn and deserve to be there. So I'm fully OK letting go of that -- when the time comes -- if that is how it rolls," she said.
