Shiffrin dominated with a 1.57 seconds lead to surpass Germany’s Lena Duerr and Albania's Lara Colturi. With the remarkable victory, the 30-year-old also earned an Olympic spot for the 2026 Milano Cortina Games. She will represent the USA Team at her fourth consecutive Olympic appearance. Shiffrin has previously competed at the 2014 Sochi, 2018 PyeongChang, and 2022 Beijing Games, from which she has secured two gold and one silver medal.
As she grabbed the spot to compete in the Olympic Games, her fiancé, and Norwegian skier, was left in awe of her impressive skills and strength. Kilde and Shiffrin began dating in the early months of 2021 after meeting at a ski camp. They made their relationship public in May 2021 and announced their engagement in April 2024. They have been each other's greatest strength in respect to their sport and dealing with severe injuries.

Aleksander Kilde recently opened up about fiancée Mikaela Shiffrin's role and impact in his recovery process. Kilde suffered severe injuries after a devastating fall at the Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen in January 2024. He injured his right leg and his left shoulder and later contracted sepsis (an infection in his shoulder). He was forced to undergo multiple surgeries during the rehabilitation period.
Throughout this difficult time, Shiffrin stood by his side like a rock. In a recent interview following his return to the slope, Kilde opened up about Shiffrin's role, stating she not only helped him in his personal growth but also in his career.
