The 30-year-old made her international debut in the 2011 World Cup event held at Špindlerův Mlýn in the Czech Republic, a couple of days before her 16th birthday.Shiffrin made her Olympic debut at the 2014 Sochi edition. The young alpine skier surprised everyone by winning the women's slalom event at the age of just 18 years. Mikaela Shiffrin became one of the youngest Olympic champions in women's skiing with that victory.However, the story had just begun. At the PyeongChang edition held in 2018, Mikaela Shiffrin solidified her legacy by winning the gold medal in the women's giant slalom event. Shiffrin further added another medal to her collection by contributing to the women's combined event, where she clinched the silver medal.However, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics turned out to be a disappointment for Mikaela Shiffrin. Despite being labeled as the top favorite to win at least three of her six events, Shiffrin struggled to finish even in the top five for most of the events. Her best performance came ironically in the mixed team event, where Team USA finished fourth overall.
