Riley Gaines recently took a swipe at the doctors agreeing to perform gender affriming surgeries. After a few doctors agreed to perform "non-standard" gender-affirming surgeries, Gaines called out for reforms. The "non-standard" gender-affirming surgery process sometimes includes puberty blockers, hormone therapy, unprescribed medications, and techniques that lack scientific research. The New York Post recently reported on doctors agreeing to practice these experimental gender-affirming procedures purely for cosmetic goals. The report also highlighted doctors performing these clinically lacking procedures with no proper assessment of the mental and physical health of the individuals. Gaines shared the article on social media and slammed the doctors while accusing them of violating the sacred Hippocratic Oath. She also demanded that strict actions be taken against the doctors who agreed to follow the unregulated process. "This is a direct violation of the Hippocratic Oath," Gaines wrote. "'First, do no harm, isn’t optional. Licenses should be stripped, and all responsible should be sued into oblivion." Gaines has been a strong supporter of saving biological women's spaces from the inclusion of transgender individuals. Recently, the former University of Kentucky swimmer also explained why transgender athletes should not be included in the women's category, stating that it will demotivate the upcoming generation of female athletes. Slusser competed for the SJSU team alongside the trans athlete without being informed about the latter's gender identity. Slusser competed alongside Fleming for the entire 2023 season. In an interview with Fox News, Slusser opened up about the mental and physical strain she went through after she got to know about Fleming's gender identity. For a year, Slusser shared the same locker room, hotel room, and other facilities with Fleming. As the collegiate athlete opened up about her struggles, Riley extended her support and wrote (On X, formerly twitter):"She eventually had to drop out of school and move back home for her safety and health," Gaines wrote. "This is abuse. So why aren’t women like Brooke ever considered when we talk about the “feelings” of those affected by these decisions?"Slusser also highlighted that she experienced anorexia.
