Vonn returned to the slopes in late 2024 and shared her decision to come out of retirement after undergoing a partial knee replacement surgery that gave her a solution to her long-standing knee issues. The American athlete slowly went on to progress in her journey as a skier in her comeback season and registered her first World Cup podium in seven years in the Super G in the Alpine skiing season finals.

Months later, Lindsey Vonn announced that the former skier Aksel Lund Svindal would be part of her coaching team, as she started to make an endeavor to compete at the Winter Olympics. In the midst of her training sessions, Lindsey Vonn shared that she was watching a documentary series about her coach's Winter Olympics victory, adding that his grit and determination had left her awestruck.

In addition, Vonn expressed how emotional she was while watching him become the downhill champion, which added to her motivation while continuing her preparations for the Winter Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn spoke about adding Olympic gold medalist Aksel Lund Svindal to her team in her comeback season in an interview with ESPN. The American athlete expressed her gratitude for having him in her team, and she hoped to push her limits as she competed against some of the best skiers in the world.

Vonn shared that the former Norwegian Alpine skier would be the perfect person to help her achieve her goals, as he had similar challenges in his career while competing on the global stage.

"To have him officially on my team as we push for the Cortina Games is a huge boost. This comeback is about pushing boundaries and proving what's possible, and I believe Aksel will help give me the extra edge I will need on this ambitious journey. I am grateful to have him on my team, and I couldn't ask for a better partner," she said.

The American athlete hopes to enjoy her time on the slopes while aiming for the pinnacle in the upcoming skiing season.
