They both served for the program together in 2023 and 2024. Batenhorst joined the Huskers in 2021 as a freshman. In 2023, Murray and Batenhorst led the team to the NCAA final before falling short against Texas. In 2024, they enjoyed a good run with the team after leading the program to the semifinals. However, the Huskers were overpowered by Penn State.

Batenhorst has displayed her impressive skills during her run at the Huskers, for which she was honored with Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. As she ran into her former teammate Murray, she was seen beaming with joy. Murray shared a video of the two hugging and embracing each other on Instagram and wrote:

Batenhorst recently faced suspension by the FIVB, the sport’s international governing body, after testing positive for a banned substance. The incident took place after a match at the Elite 16, a Beach Pro Tour stop in Newport Beach last month.
