Dani Busboom Kelly expressed her thoughts about the Nebraska volleyball team losing a set to UCLA that ended their 45-set unbeaten streak. The former Husker shared that losing a set after a dominance of over two months did not have much of an impact on the team, and they were quick enough to regain their form and clinch the victory against USC in straight sets two days later.
The Nebraska volleyball team competed against UCLA on November 14 and won the match in four sets. After dominant displays in the first and second sets by Nebraska, UCLA made a comeback with a strong attack to win the third set, thereby ending their unbeaten set streak. Ultimately, the Huskers clinched the victory with a score of 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, 25-15.
Dani Busboom Kelly spoke about the impact of losing a set in a post-match interview and shared how streaks don't hold relevance in the sport. She lauded the team for getting back their momentum quickly and extending their dominance in their next match without being deterred by struggles during their match against UCLA.
" I don't think anybody on our team really cared about the streak set because it's pretty irrelevant for our sport. But I thought we played really great on Sunday. There are a lot of excuses we could give ourselves for being a little flat on Friday, but we still won and ended on a great note in that set four and played great on Sunday. So, I think it was a very good trip and everybody was fired up with the way it ended," she said. (17:24 onwards)
Furthermore, Busboom Kelly shared that it was yet another successful weekend for the Nebraska volleyball team as they continued their pursuits in the season.
