"Definition of a good teammate" - Bergen Reilly opens up on impact of Maisie Boesiger on the Nebraska volleyball team

Nebraska volleyball's Maisie Boesiger received praise from her teammate Bergen Reilly during her impressive run in the 2025 season. Boesiger joined the Huskers team in 2022 as a freshman.

She replaced the former star Lexi Rodriguez to serve as a libero for the team. During the Nebraska Volleyball's unbeaten run this season, Reilly reflected on Boesiger's impact, stating that she is a positive person and shows up every day with a smile. Reilly further emphasized that Boesiger represents exactly what it means to be a great teammate. In a recent press conference, Reilly expressed that she feels lucky to have a teammate like Boesiger.

"She's just such a light for the team. Like, it's we've talked about it a couple times. It's a long hard season, but she will come in every day with the biggest smile on her face and she's like the definition of team first. And we talk about that a lot, like do whatever the team needs for you, like T (Teraya Sigler) said. And that's exactly what Maisie's willing to do.

Reilly also referred to Boesiger as 'the definition of a good teammate,' highlighting how, for the first three years, the libero showed up 30 minutes early every single day to help the setters by passing balls without complaining.

"She's just like the definition of a good teammate and exactly what we try and embrace here at Nebraska is being good teammates and having that culture and we've been so lucky, I've been so lucky to have so many teammates like that here." (11:17 onwards)

In her junior her, Boesiger played in nine matches and had six digs on the season.

Nebraska volleyball's Maisie Boesiger opened up about the team's record-breaking stadium match held in 2023, when she was serving in her sophomore year. Her team faced Omaha on August 20, 2023, at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The Nebraska Volleyball team defeated the opponent in front of 92,003 fans. Reflecting on the stadium match in an interview with 1890 Nebraska, Boesiger said.

“They show up every single day without fail, like packing Memorial Stadium, 92,000 fans. That was my sophomore year, and I still cannot believe that happened. It almost feels like a movie when you see anything about it, or see the pictures or the videos. I cannot believe that Husker Nation seriously packed 90,000 people in Memorial Stadium for us." The match surpassed the previous record of the USA’s FIFA World Cup Final against China at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on July 10, 1999, where 90,185 fans were present. Harper Murray also opened up about the stadium match, saying that not many schools can pull it off.
