Nebraska volleyball coach Dani Busboom Kelly expressed her thoughts about voting for the conference player of the year. The former Husker weighed in on the aspects that she would take into consideration while voting for the major honor.
Dani Busboom Kelly expressed that, according to her, the player who has the most impact on the team holistically is the one whom she recommends for the honor. Moreover, she also takes into consideration how a particular player handles pressure and competes in crucial matches that have a lot at stake for the team.
The Nebraska volleyball team's head coach expressed that she considers every player to have an equal chance for the recommendation in her eyes, and it completely depends on the overall impact that the player has on the team's performance and victories.
"Usually, it's just who has the biggest impact on winning. That would be on that certain team. A lot of times, I have taken into consideration how those players played in the biggest games of the year against the other top opponents and how they performed in big pressure moments, but typically the impact that person has on the team winning matches but I don't consider it has to be a sixth rotation player or setter or I think any position is worthy of being a conference player of the year," she said. Furthermore, on being asked whether she would also consider Liberos for the conference player of the year, Busboom Kelly nodded in affirmation and playfully shared that she was always a part of the 'justice for liberos' train.

Dani Busboom Kelly spoke about the depth of the Nebraska volleyball team in a post-match interview. The former Husker shared that bringing in variations has been crucial for the team's dominance in the season.
Moreover, she expressed that the Nebraska volleyball players are prepared for any challenge that can come up in the 2025 season, as they have been putting in a lot of effort during their training sessions by simulating match-like situations.
"It's been huge. I've said this since day one, and every single week since then, it's just, we mix up the team every day. Everybody has to be sharp, and everybody knows that somebody can come in and challenge them, and we're going to make changes when we need them," she said.
The Nebraska volleyball team will be competing against Penn State in a blackout match at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on November 28, 2025.
