Nebraska Volleyball junior player Bergen Reilly wrote an emotional message as her team played in the annual traditional Pink Match, which is aimed at raising breast cancer awareness. They competed against the Northwestern team.The Nebraska women's volleyball team hosts a Pink Match every year to raise awareness for breast cancer. They honor cancer survivors by keeping them as honorary starters. The tradition has been followed by the Huskers team for about a decade now. This year, the players honored the honorary starters with gifts and warm hugs before the game started. The players were seen donning a hint of pink accessories during the game.While other players, including Harper Murray and Teraya Sigler, wore pink arm bands, Reilly opted for multiple pink ribbons in her hair, which she tied in a high ponytail. The Nebraska Huskers dominated the match against Northwestern with a 3-0, after leading all sets 25-17, 25-13, 25-17. Reilly recorded 30 assists. In an interview with SI.com, she highlighted that while the team is known for its strong defense, they are also strengthening their attacking skills this season.“Nebraska has always been great defensively and sometimes hasn’t put up offensive numbers. This year, we’re really putting up really high offensive numbers as well. It’s just the attention to detail and the awareness that we’re going to be great on both sides. We’re not going to rely on one or the other to win games.”So far, the Nebraska Volleyball team has been unbeaten with a 20-0 record. With their recent win over Michigan State, the Huskers recorded their 11th straight-set win. They will face Wisconsin on Friday, October 31, 2025.
