After the Simone Biles controversy, former Olympic medalist gymnast MyKayla Skinner has recently expressed her thoughts on the recent IOC ruling for trans athletes. According to the recent ruling by the International Olympic Committee, trans athletes may be completely banned from participating in future events, including the Los Angeles Olympics, which are scheduled for 2028.

The 28-year-old gymnast shared her thoughts through an exclusive article for the Fox News website. Skinner not only supported the move but also called for the protection of female athletes.

The former Olympic silver medalist talked about the need to protect female athletes from further harassment. She wrote in the article,

"The IOC’s recent announcement gives me hope that meaningful change is possible. Now, it’s on all of us — the silent majority of female athletes, Team USA, and those still training at the elite level — to speak up and demand that the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) enforce policies that protect fairness and safety in every women’s sport."

MyKayla Skinner further called out the elite female athletes over their 'silence' on this issue as she further added,

"I’d be thrilled to see the IOC take the next step. But even more dearly, I’d love to hear the voices of the elite female athletes who are done compromising on fairness and safety finally say it out loud. It’s time to tell our side."

MyKayla Skinner had qualified for the Olympics twice. She traveled to the quadrennial event held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 as an alternate, and then joined the main team for the event held in Tokyo in 2021, where she won a silver medal in the women's vault event.

In a YouTube video, MyKayla Skinner revealed how she was harassed online for her comments. In her words,

"I was getting death threats. My agent at that time was getting death threats and emails sent to her and actually contacting her phone and sending her voice messages and trying to call her, and people tell me I'm a bad mom, I shouldn't be a mom, like I don't have the voice and just saying horrible, horrible words to me. It really did take me down a spiral. It was really, really hard to go through, and I felt like I couldn't be the mom that I needed to be for my daughter, which was so difficult and just so sad. It was a scary thing to go through to have, like feeling the whole hates you."

MyKayla Skinner previously backed swimmer-turned-social activist Riley Gaines over the online feud with Simone Biles. Biles later apologized to Gaines after receiving criticism for her comments against the latter.
