Will Soto recently expressed his feelings after announcing commitment to the Penn State Wrestling. The two time state champion will be joining the Penn State Nittany Lions from the 2027 season onwards.

The teenage wrestler recently shared his thoughts about the commitment on his Instagram account. Soto thanked everyone for making him who he is right now, and hoped he could live up to the expectations.

Will Soto elaborated further on this point as he explained in his Instagram post,

"I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my commitment to Penn State University to continue my academic and athletic career. I want to thank my family for their endless love and support, my coaches and teammates for pushing me to be my best both on and off the mat, and allowing me to turn my dreams into a reality."

The teenage wrestler further added in his post towards the end as he wrote,

"I’m excited for the next Chapter. We are!🦁"

Will Soto is the fourth wrestler overall to join the Class of 2027 for the Penn State Nittany Lions, and the second wrestler who is not from Pennsylvania to do so. Wrestlers like Gavin Mangano, Landon Sidun and James Whitbread have previously committed to the 2027 program.

William Christian Soto, also known as Will Soto, is a 16-year-old wrestler who hails from Puerto Rico. He currently represents the Newburg Free Academy in New York at the state wrestling Championships.

Will Soto revealed in one interview that more than 20 coaches sought his approval. However, he initially narrowed his choices to Penn State University, Lehigh University, and the University of Pennsylvania before he finally committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions for the 2027 season.

Will Soto aims to wrestle in the 125-pound category, i.e., the 57 kg. Freestyle category. He won his first state title in the 101-pound category as a freshman and consequently, the 108-pound title last year. Soto made it two in two as he won the State Championships once again this year.

In the current season, Will Soto is ranked fourth in the USA, as per FloWrestling. He participated in the 2024 Pan American Under-15 Championships in the men's freestyle category as well as the men's Greco-Roman category. While Soto clinched the silver medal in the Greco-Roman division, having lost to Michael Mateo Gallegos of the USA in the finals, he won the gold medal in the freestyle division by defeating Noe Valentin Ochoa Olvera of Mexico.
