The New York Rangers left Madison Square Garden on Sunday night with another frustrating result. A late Tomas Hertl equalizer and Jack Eichel’s overtime winner sealed a 3-2 Vegas Golden Knights victory extending the Rangers’ struggles on home ice.But in the aftermath, captain J.T. Miller focused less on the missed point and more on a growing body of work he believes the team can “go home and sleep” on.“We’re starting to do a lot of the right things, more on a consistent basis, especially against the top teams in the league,” Miller said post-game. “Another game where I think we can go home and sleep knowing we put on a pretty good performance against a really hard team.”Miller said the loss came at the end of a demanding week that still showed progress.“Eight points are up for grabs, you know, we got six. I mean I think we'll take that any day of the week. I just think that and we're doing it the right way.”“This one's going to suck a little bit. You know, I feel like we deserved a better fate, but at the end of the day, you know, they won the game and, you know, it's a fine line,” he added.New York fell behind early on the night but took control in the second period outshooting Vegas 16-6 while goals from Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafrenière flipped the game 2-1.Jonathan Quick, making his second appearance since returning from injury, delivered another sharp outing with 26 saves. But the Rangers couldn’t close it out, conceding with 52 seconds left before losing in the final seconds of overtime.J.T. Miller heaps praise on ‘unreal’ Jonathan QuickJ.T. Miller singled out Jonathan Quick’s performance as a major positive in the overtime loss since returning from the lower-body injury that sidelined him in late November.Miller noted that the Rangers were able to play their aggressive style because they trusted the goaltending behind them.“Both goalies played really well. Quick played unreal again, made some big saves down the stretch. Right now it’s a fine line between winning and losing, but we should feel proud of our effort.”Miller also highlighted the four-line pressure that carried the Rangers through the middle stages of Sunday’s game.“We talk about playing on top of teams,” Miller said. “I thought the game could’ve been 4-1 after the second instead of 2-1.”The Rangers captain added that the group is finding belief during a difficult portion of the schedule.
