The Edmonton Oilers are at home to take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. Edmonton (5-5-2) is coming off a 4-3 loss to the New York Rangers at home.
Ahead of the Oilers' home game, here is what Edmonton's projected lineup looks like.
Oilers projected lines
Forwards
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Connor McDavid - Andrew Mangiapane
- Vasily Podkolzin - Leon Draisaitl - Jack Roslovic
- Matthew Savoie - Noah Philip -Trent Frederic
- Ike Howard - David Tomasek
The Oilers are going with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, which isn't too common. Edmonton has continued to shuffle up its lines to produce more offense, but there will be times when McDavid and Draisaitl play with each other.
However, Edmonton is getting close to having Zach Hyman back from injury, as Nov. 1 was the first possible date he could be back.
"He's raring to go. He looks ready to go," Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said. "I want to put him in. Our medical staff is holding him back. I don't think it's fair.
"He'll still be week-to-week. We said it was bare minimum on November 1, and it won't be, but it'll be at least a week after that and hopefully soon. We want him back. I think he looks ready, but obviously we're looking at the long picture and making sure that we don't have any setbacks."
For now, Edmonton needs some other players to step up and add some secondary scoring.
Defense
- Mattias Ekholm - Evan Bouchard
- Darnell Nurse - Jake Walman
- Brett Kulak - Ty Emberson
- Troy Stetcher
The Oilers will deploy seven defensemen, as Troy Stetcher will remain in the lineup. Edmonton's blue line is led by Evan Bouchard and Mattias Ekholm, who will continue to play the bulk of the minutes and add some offense to the back end.
Goalies
- Stuart Skinner
- Calvin Pickard
Edmonton will turn to Skinner in the net,3 who's been solid to begin the year. Skinner is 3-3-2 with a 2.59 GAA and a .896 SV% this season. He's 4-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .924 SV% in his career against Chicago.
