Vancouver Canucks fans on social media reacted as forward Elias Pettersson was ruled out for Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild. It would have been the 500th NHL career game for him.

Pettersson, currently signed to an eight-year, $92.8 million contract and tied for the team lead with 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) in 28 games, sustained an upper-body injury before the game.

The 28-year-old Swede left the ice early during the warmups after attempting to play, ruling him out against the Wild.

Elias Pettersson shares his thoughts after 4-1 loss to Utah Mammoth

The Vancouver Canucks lost their fourth straight game after a 4-1 defeat to the Utah Mammoth at Rogers Place Arena on Friday.

Pettersson, who finished the game with five shots on goal, insisted after the game that the team played for the win but couldn't convert their chances.

“Yeah, it's tough. I think we definitely created a lot, enough to win the game,” Pettersson said. “We had good looks, but yeah… the goals were missing.”

The Canucks currently sit at the bottom of the league standings with a 10-15-3 record.
