Former NHL player P.K. Subban shared strong words after Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers' 5-4 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. McDavid scored twice in the third period to help the Oilers rally from a 3-1 deficit. He now has a five-game point streak and has scored 10 points in that span.Jake Walman also scored two goals, and forward Jack Roslovic scored the overtime winner only 56 seconds into extra time. The win ended Edmonton’s three-game losing streak. They won the game at home after a 9-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. However, Subban was not impressed, and he said the team played with no energy or urgency. While watching the game at home on his TV, he recorded a video. In it, he said Connor McDavid looked like the only player trying to carry the team."Edmonton Oilers are god awful," Subban said. "Terrible. They got no pulse, but the captain showed up to play. He looks like the only guy that wants to pull their team into the fight."Subban evaluated McDavid's second goal of the game."Watch him here," Subban said. "Scanning, pulse, pulse, pulse. 'I got to get things going. Gallup, see ya.' No stick, no ability. Marchenko, you're better with the puck. Not when this guy's got it. Look at this move. Nasty."He posted the video on his official X account after the game. In his caption, Subban wrote,"Win or lose….Oilers gotta wake up! Too many passengers!! your best players always have to be your best players… but where is everyone else!??? Too many guys comfortable! Oilers gotta get comfortable with the uncomfortable fast! Gotta pay a bigger price to have success! Execution, dzone coverage, managing the clock, the game! Gotta be better! Tough to watch!"Subban’s comments point to a larger problem for Oilers. The team often relies too heavily on Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Other players need to step up and contribute more, despite Edmonton improving its record to 7-6-4.Kris Knoblauch praised Connor McDavid's will to winEdmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch praised Connor McDavid after Monday's overtime win. He said McDavid was focused and determined, and his two goals showed great effort and leadership."Connor wasn’t going to let us lose tonight," Knoblauch said."He was so focused on getting the job done,"The coach said his captain played with purpose and lifted the group."He just willed the team to win." Knoblauch said.Goalie Stuart Skinner made 15 saves for Edmonton, and Oilers had 24 shots on goal. The Oilers also blocked 27 shots and had 23 hits.
