Several NHL players from Sweden were celebrated online this weekend as their partners wished them on Swedish Father’s Day which fell on Sunday, Nov. 9.
New York Rangers captain Mika Zibanejad was featured in a pair of posts shared by his wife Irma Helin. In the first, Mika was seen in their kitchen dressed head-to-toe in an orange Bluey costume while cooking breakfast.
Helin captioned the image in Swedish, which translates to:
“Darling, Mika, my love. There’s nothing you’re better at than being Ella’s dad. I’m the most grateful person in the world to live beside you and go through everything with you. She’s the best thing we have together, and you’re the best thing I’ve given her! Happy Father’s Day my love💙”
Her next story showed Mika outdoors, holding their daughter Ella under a bright afternoon sun with the words:
“Through everything and anything.”
Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala also received a touching tribute from his wife Jessica Fiala, who shared a nighttime photo of Kevin carrying their daughter Maisie-Mae on his shoulders, both dressed in coordinating animal onesies. Her caption read:
“Happy Swedish Father’s Day, my love. Maisie-Mae is a lucky one.❤️”

New York Islanders forward Pierre Engvall was celebrated by his wife Matilda Engvall who posted a portrait of him holding their newborn. She wrote in Swedish:
“Du är den bästa pappan, oändligt tacksam för dig och allt du gör. Vi älskar dig @pierreengvall❤️”, which translates to: “You are the best dad, endlessly grateful for you and everything you do. We love you @pierreengvall❤️.”
Meanwhile, Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson appeared in multiple stories from his wife Tessa Andersson. One showed Rasmus sitting in a chair with their two children, accompanied by the caption:
“Happy Swedish Father’s Day, you are our safe space and everyone’s favorite 🤍🤍🤍.”

Another clip featured a behind-the-scenes moment at the Scotiabank Saddledome where Rasmus knelt on the arena floor playing with his kids after a team event. The simple note beneath read, “We love you ❤️.”
Alexander Wennberg’s son surprises him with homemade treats on Swedish Father’s Day
San Jose Sharks alternate captain Alexander Wennberg enjoyed a sweet Swedish Father’s Day celebration with a family beach outing over the weekend. He also received a special surprise from his four-year-old son Rio on the special occasion.
Felicia Wennberg, Alexander’s wife, later shared a series of Instagram stories featuring the family’s relaxed beach outing in honor of Swedish Father’s Day. In one story, she revealed that Rio helped bake chocolate banana muffins “with some help” as a surprise for his dad, writing:
“Cheers with choc banana muffins made by Rio (with some help) for Father’s Day 🤍.”

Other moments from the day showed the family soaking up the sun including a beach photo of Alexander sitting in the sand with Rio and their daughter Ivy captioned:
“My whole heart 🤍 @alexanderwennberg.”
Another image featured Alexander and Rio dressed in matching Spider-Man outfits at home with the caption “Our superhero 🤍 ILYSB.”
