The Vancouver Canucks' shaky start to the 2025-26 season has increased the trade chatter surrounding Quinn Hughes. The former Norris Trophy winner is approaching the final year of his contract and will be eligible to sign a new deal with the team on July 1.

However, as Canucks' future doesn't look promising, and General Manager Patrik Allvin has let other GMs know that they are willing to hear offers for their players, Hughes has already been linked to the New Jersey Devils as a trade option. The 26-year-old has admitted previously to wanting to play with his brothers, Jack and Luke Hughes, currently signed to the Devils.

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, on the latest edition of the Bleacher Report's Open Ice on Tuesday, Hughes isn't the right fit for New Jersey currently. He instead named the Philadelphia Flyers, valued at $2.3 billion, to benefit from a trade for Hughes.

"I know, again, everyone gets the idea of these three brothers uniting and coming together," Seravalli said. "I also don't think it's as seamless of a fit as everyone wants it to be. Would the Devils love to have him? Of course, that's the case, sure. But if Quinn Hughes is running power-play one for the New Jersey Devils, what is Luke Hughes doing?"

"How about the Philadelphia Flyers and their head coach, Rick Tocchet, who just had Quinn Hughes in Vancouver? They'd be salivating to get their hands on someone like Quinn Hughes."

Tochhet was head coach for the Canucks for the past three seasons before joining the Flyers, the franchise with which he stayed most of his playing career. Hughes had been vocal about Tochhet's plans and had also indicated that he would have liked the 61-year-old to renew his contract with the team.

The Flyers are currently sixth in a tightly contested Metropolitan Division with 25 points, three points away from the Islanders, who hold the third divisional playoff spot. They have over $10 million in cap space and have a few cetermen, that the Canucks could benefit from.

Bryan Hayes floats blockbuster Maple Leafs trade deal for Quinn Hughes

TSN insider Bryan Hayes, on the latest edition of Overdrive on Tuesday, considered the Toronto Maple Leafs trading Matthew Knies, who was recently signed to a six-year $46.5 million contract by the team, to get Hughes, even if it meant for one and a half seasons till his contract expires.

"I mean, listen, it's difficult mid-season and it's difficult with a hard salary cap," Hayes said. "It's tough to do. Let's say the Leafs are really rocking right now and it's going to cost you Matthew Knies. I'm doing it. That's what I'm telling you. Okay, I'm doing that plus the picks and the like that's how good Quinn Hughes is."

While speculations continue, Allvin has clarified that the Canucks aren't prioritizing trading Hughes as of yet. Meanwhile, Hughes continues to be in stellar form, scoring 11 points in his last five games.
