A heated incident unfolded at the end of the second period during the Laval Rocket's 5-2 win over the Toronto Marlies during an AHL game at Place Bell on Friday.Marlies' Michael Pezzetta delivered a blindsided hit on Rocket defenseman Marc Del Gaizo, appearing to injure him. Rocket forward Florian Xhekaj immediately challenged Pezzetta, dropping the gloves for a fight.As the fight concluded and Pezzetta skated toward the bench, tensions escalated into a scrum. He made his debut during the Habs’ 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 22.In his debut game, Florian recorded his first career NHL point and also dropped the gloves against the Leafs’ Dakota Mermis in the third period. And it was good to get some games under my belt,” Xhekaj said Tuesday via Montreal Gazette. “I think I showed everything that first game. I thought I was pretty good offensively, did pretty well in my fight."Florian Xhekaj was drafted No. 101 overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2023 NHL draft. He has amassed nine points through four goals and five assists in 20 AHL games with the Laval Rocket this season.
