Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander commented on his animated conversation with coach Craig Berube during the Leafs’ 2-1 overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.

Midway through the third period, the two were seen having a heated exchange near Toronto's bench.

When asked about their relationship and how comfortable they are with these kinds of chats, Nylander said:

"Yeah, I mean, it's just good to be on the same page regarding what is happening out there."

William Nylander scored the winner for the Maple Leafs with 20 seconds remaining in overtime. With that, Nylander potted his 15th career overtime goal, surpassing captain Auston Matthews and franchise icon Mats Sundin for the most overtime goals in Leafs history.

Easton Cowan receives high praise from William Nylander

After two goalless periods, the Columbus Blue Jackets took the lead when Zach Werenski scored at 13:30 of the third.

With less than four minutes remaining in regulation, Easton Cowan tied the game 1-1 for the Maple Leafs after William Nylander fed him a no-look pass from behind the net, setting up a sharp-angled shot.

After the game, Nylander had nothing but praise for the 20-year-old:

"Yeah, he has done really well. You see the things that he can do out there. An incredible shot on that goal, in a tough angle on the offside. I mean, shooting like that, lefty, is crazy," Nylander said post-game. "So, he's been doing incredible things, and it's been fun playing with him.

Nylander increased his season tally to 31 points (11 goals and 20 assists) in 20 games. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs improved their record to 10-10-3, holding the seventh position in the Atlantic Division.

The Maple Leafs travel to Capital One Arena for their next matchup against the Washington Capitals on Friday. The puck drops at 5 p.m. ET.
