The Montreal Canadiens held their annual Hockey Fights Cancer night on Saturday at the Bell Centre in partnership with Leucan, an organization supporting children with cancer and their families.

This year’s event honored dozens of young Leucan members who were treated to a full game-day experience, from meeting players to standing on the ice for the national anthems. One of the most moving moments came before puck drop, when Nathan, who recently completed his treatments, rang the ceremonial bell at center ice.

Defenseman Noah Dobson’s wife Alexa later shared a carousel of photos on Instagram capturing behind-the-scenes moments from the event.

Her post featured several Canadiens players’ partners including Lane Hutson’s girlfriend Kylie Roberts and Caitlin Fitzgerald, wife of captain Nick Suzuki, all wearing Canadiens jerseys. The group also stopped by Leucan’s welcome booth where they met families and took part in pre-game festivities.

Fans were invited to take part through the “I Fight For” wall set up in Section 116 where attendees wrote the names of loved ones affected by cancer. Proceeds and awareness efforts from the night support Leucan’s ongoing work with Quebec families.

On the ice, the Canadiens capped off the night with a 6-2 victory over the Utah Mammoth with goaltender Samuel Montembeault backstopping the win.

Fan returned emotional 2022 “Hockey Fights Cancer” jersey to Brendan Gallagher in memory of his late mother

Earlier this year, Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher received a special gift from a fan who returned the 2022 “Hockey Fights Cancer” warm-up jersey he had worn in honor of his mother, Della Gallagher.

Della passed away in March after a long battle with brain cancer and the jersey inscribed with “I Fight For: Mom” carried personal significance for the player.

Lucie Lachance, the fan who had purchased the jersey at a charity auction, contacted Gallagher after learning of his mother’s death saying the jersey belonged with him.

Gallagher responded gratefully and arranged an on‑ice jersey swap set to coincide with the team’s final home regular‑season game of the year on April 16.

True to plan, after the game at the Bell Centre, the two met centre ice where Gallagher presented Lachance with his game‑worn jersey and a signed stick while she handed him the warm‑up jersey in its original box.
