Vancouver Canucks star Elias Pettersson and his wife, model Katelyn Byrd, shared an emotional message after suffering a pregnancy loss. On Thursday, Katelyn shared an Instagram post featuring a video of her and Elias embracing with their dog nearby. Her message was raw and heartbreaking, offering a glimpse into the pain the couple is enduring.

"Nothing prepares you for the deepest love and excitement you feel when you find out you created life with your dream man, and nothing prepares you for the visceral pain the moment it gets ripped away from you," Katelyn wrote.

The news comes only months after Elias Pettersson and Katelyn celebrated their summer wedding in Sweden. The couple married on June 22, 2025, in a quiet ceremony at the historic ruins of St. Nicholas Church in Visby. Pettersson had described it as the best day of his life.

She continued with a tribute to their unborn baby.

"Knowing you’re gone is one of the hardest things my heart has ever had to accept," Katelyn wrote. "The love we have for you is endless. I would do anything to bring you back. We really wanted to welcome you into this world in July, being the best parents we could possibly be.

"We never got to hold you or count your little toes but we dreamed about it every second after finding out about you. Rest easy my baby. We will love and miss you forever our angel Baby."

Katelyn also reached out to other women experiencing similar losses, reminding them they are not alone.

"For the women fighting this behind the scenes, I see you, I feel you, you are not alone as much as it feels like it. I love you, and I’m here for you." Katelyn added.

Elias Pettersson's wife received support from Lauren Kyle

The post drew an outpouring of support from the hockey community and her followers. One of the special messages included that of Edmonton Oilers' star captain Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, who commented,

"I’m so sorry for your loss 💔 sending love 🤍🤍."

Now, the hockey world stands behind the couple as they navigate profound heartbreak, offering condolences, compassion, and support.

Meanwhile, Elias Pettersson leads the Canucks with 22 points this season, after facing a slump in 2024-25 season, in which he was limited to just 45 points.
