Connor Bedard delivered the best performance of his young career Tuesday recording his first NHL hat trick and four-point night in the Chicago Blackhawks’ 7-3 win over the Ottawa Senators at the United Center.The former No. 1 overall pick reached the feat in his 160th NHL game and the home crowd that showered the ice with hats after his third goal midway through the third period. Bedard became the youngest Blackhawk since Patrick Kane to post a four-point night and the first to score a hat trick at home since Alex DeBrincat in 2021.“It’s great, I mean, it’d be great anywhere, but getting to do it at home and have the reaction from the crowd, it’s a pretty special feeling,” Bedard told CHSN’s Darren Pang.“We feel that every game and just kind of that family and the fans we have. So, obviously scored the three nights, but it adds a lot when you get that passion and reaction from the crowd.”The youngster opened the scoring on a first-period power play before adding another early in the second. His hat trick goal came at 3:46 of the third period off a clean face-off win and quick release that beat Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark high glove side.Bedard finished the night with four points, four shots on goal and a +3 rating in 18:12 of ice time. The performance lifted him to nine goals and 15 points through 10 games to start the 2025-26 season.Connor Bedard reaffirms faith in team chemistryDuring the postgame interview, Connor Bedard spoke about the confidence and cohesion within the Blackhawks locker room. He mentioned that everyone on the Blackhawks believes in each other which has helped them start the season strong.The 20-year-old shared that even if the expectations are low early in the season, the group is focused on supporting each other and winning games.“I think no matter what, you go into every game believing you can win, and we really have a lot of faith in our group,” Bedard said. “Coming into the year, people outside the team might have had low expectations, but we never thought that way.”“It’s only 10 games in, and we still have a lot of work to do, but we believe in each other. We’re a tight-knit group, playing for one another. It’s been fun so far, but in the end, it’s just one game, we have to keep building and keep stacking wins.”Bedard also mentioned that playing on the right side of the power play gave him a new view of the ice and new ways to create chances.Looking ahead to the team’s six-game road trip, Connor Bedard said that he is excited to bond with teammates and grow closer during the long stretch. He praised the team’s ability to recover after giving up early goals noting that they focused on scoring rather than just avoiding mistakes.
