With Connor Bedard's solid start this season, the Chicago Blackhawks have improved their record to 7-5-3. They are sitting fourth in the Central Division, after staying near the bottom of the league in the past two seasons. Young stars Bedard and Frank Nazar have played big roles in that success.

Off the ice, the two are close friends. Bedard and Nazar talked with The Athletic's Mark Lazerus about their friendship and daily routines. They also discussed their Halloween costumes, where they dressed as Thing 6 and Thing 7.

The Blackhawks shared a photo of them on X, writing:

"We're just gonna leave this right here #67"

The idea came from Nazar, Bedard, and Nazar’s girlfriend, Alexis.

"It was a bit of both between both of us, trying to figure out something cool, something funny to do," Nazar said. "Me, Connor and my girlfriend, Alexis. She was bringing up different ideas, and then we were brainstorming. And we wanted to add 6, 7 in there."

The number choice was a joke linked to the “six-seven” meme, a viral phrase from Skrilla’s song Doot Doot (6 7) that spread across social media in early 2025.

They also shared some simple roommate habits, like waking up to the same alarm.

"We get up at the same time," Connor Bedard said, "Yours [Nazar] is so loud, though. Legit. Wake up scared every morning. No, it’s good. I’m never really annoyed by you too much."

Their friendship even goes deep as they often communicate using funny videos.

"You’ve got to share," Nazar said about sharing whatever they watch online. "If you see something funny, (mimes turning his phone in Bedard’s direction).

It's like a rule, Bedard said, adding,

"That’s basically our communication (both laugh) after 9 o’clock."

Recently, both Hawks stars watched the movie "Goon" together. It is a story featuring a bouncer who joins a hockey team and leads it to success through toughness, basically, hockey fights.

Connor Bedard and Nazar's contribution to the Blackahwks offense

The Blackahwks are on a two-game win streak and recently defeated the Calgary Flames with a 4-0 shutout. Connor Bedard had a four-point (1 goal, 3 assists) night, and under him, the Blackhawks' offense has improved, scoring 3.20 goals per game.

Connor Bedard, 20, was drafted first overall in 2023. He has 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points this season. Nazar, 21, was picked 13th overall in 2022 and has 5 goals and 6 assists in 15 games. Together, they have helped give the Blackhawks more consistency and balance.

The Bedard-Nazar bond gives fans hope of a bright future for the Hawks.
